We do "out here" a little bit differently.
Here's what you need to know.

  • Transportation between your home and Duluth, Minnesota

  • Your hotel accommodations while in Duluth - speak to group leader; their company will arrange

  • Transportation from your hotel to the seaplane base (Must be to base by 8:30am; take-off at 9:00am)

  • To obtain a Canadian Fishing license - submit your information through website two weeks prior to trip.

What do I need to bring?

  • Your passport. This information will be sent to the TSA for clearance prior to take-off.

  • If anyone is missing their passport information, or if it is entered incorrectly, the flight will not be cleared. If you do not have a passport, please allow ample time to obtain one prior to your trip.

  • Favorite fishing gear (if desired) - the Outpost does provide live bait and a selection of rods and tackle for guests to use

  • Clothing and your toothbrush - We've got everything else you'll need!

How much luggage can I bring?

  • There is a 40-pound limit per person, which includes all carry-on items, such as tackle boxes, etc... We weigh all luggage and ask for your compliance with this mandatory regulation. Please note that there is a washer and dryer available at The Outpost.

What are the duty-free limits on alcohol and tobacco brought into Canada?

  • Alcohol - 1.14 liters of liquor, 1.5 liters wine or 24 bottles or cans of beer (8.5 liters)

  • Tobacco - 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes, 200 grams loose tobacco

What do I need to know about my presription medication?

  • Please bring an adequate supply for at least seven days in case of delayed departure.  Prescription drugs should be clearly identified and carried in the original packaging with a label that specifies both what they are and what that they are being used under prescription. It is also a good idea to bring a copy of your prescription and a contact number for your doctor.

  • Diabetics and others who must bring syringes should also carry evidence of their need for using these.

Is it my responsibility to buy a fishing license?

  • You will not purchase your own license. However, it is your responsibility to submit your information via the website two weeks prior to your trip so that your fishing license can be ordered. Any nonresident over the age of 18 must have a fishing license. The licenses are prepared and purchased by our staff. You will receive your fishing license upon arrival at The Outpost.

  • So that we continue to enjoy the excellent fishing that we have had in the past, each of you will receive a conservation license, which will allow you to have two walleyes and two northerns in possession.

Is there a phone at the Outpost?

  • There is one telephone line at the Outpost. The number is 807-584-2916. Please provide this number to a family member in case they need to reach you.

  • Please limit all calls to five minutes. After making a call, please wait at least 30 minutes before making another call.

  • Cell phones do not work at The Outpost.

What will the weather be for my trip?

  • The nearest weather station is Sioux Lookout, Ontario. While this will not be completely accurate due to proximity, it will provide a good estimate of the weather forecast for your trip.
